William D. Magner, U.S. Army National Guard Veteran, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the golden age of 93. Beloved Husband for a loving 61 years to the late Rita M., nee Mitisek, Magner. Devoted Father of Stephen (Susan) Magner, Lawrence (Angelica) Magner, Maurita (John) Mondanaro and Donal (Denise) Magner. Loving Son of the late Walter & the late Florence, nee Harrington, Magner and the late Loretta Magner. Fond Grandfather of Emma, Tessa, Anna, Kierra, Owen, Adrian and Lorcan. Dear Brother of Rosemary (the late James) Kurtz. Dear Uncle of Jennifer (Tom) Crooks, Donna (Paul) and Tamara Kurtz.
William and Rita were devout parishioners of St. Mary of Celle Church in Berwyn. William and Rita met many years ago at the St. Peter’s Club in Chicago. William was a proud member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus and was an avid gardener and volunteer for many causes.
Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Funeral to follow on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from Russo’s Hillside Chapels at 9:00 a.m. Proceeding to St. Mary of Celle Catholic Church, 1428 Wesley Avenue, Berwyn, Illinois. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated promptly at 11:00 a.m. Interment will remain private.
