William Anthony Slabich, Sr.

William A. Slabich, Sr., U.S. Army Veteran, age 75, of Eagle River, Wisconsin, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on July 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 1, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Peter and Martha Slabich.

Bill was President of Key West Metal Industries Inc. and a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 73. He had a big heart and a gift for brightening any room he entered. He was always ready with a story, a joke, or a bit of advice, and often reminded those he loved to “Keep being you.”

An avid fisherman and hunter, Bill especially enjoyed spending time outdoors. Above all, he loved his family deeply and treasured the time he spent with them. His big heart, laughter, quick wit, and larger-than-life personality will be remembered most fondly by all who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived by his children, William A. “Bill” Slabich Jr. (Donna), Melissa Horton (Cory), Cindy Slabich, and Artrina Pollak (Ron).

He was a proud grandfather to Kailey Horton Roe (Zach Roe), Ethan Horton, Dominic Slabich, Maxwell Pollak, and Weston Pollak, and a cherished great-grandfather to Saoirse Roe.

He is also survived by his wife, Jane Baker-Slabich, and his step-daughters Isabella, Lily, and Francesca (Frankie).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Martha Slabich; his second wife, Carol (Brunger) Slabich; and his first wife, Jennifer (Petrakis) Slabich, from whom he was divorced.

Family and Friends are to gather for the Memorial Visitation on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Chapel Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated promptly at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will remain private.
