Virginia Palumbo

Virginia Palumbo nee DeSalvo of Elmwood Park passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026 while surrounded by her Loving Family at the age of 70. Beloved Wife of the late Joseph L. Palumbo for more than 47 years. Devoted Mother of Christina (Jason) Loeffler, Terra (John) Nazha, Irene Palumbo, Patricia (Michael) Katsenios, Peter (Natina) Palumbo, Joseph (Cara) Palumbo, Jenna (Reece) Raethke. Fond Grandmother of Brayden, Payten, Bria, Preslie Loeffler, Joseph and Johnny Nazha, Theodore, Michael and Joseph Katsenios, Valentina and Gianna Palumbo, Atlas and Rhett Raethke, and Sofia Palumbo and Camden. Dear Sister in Law of Sebastian Samuel (Mary) Palumbo. Dear Sister of Christopher DeSalvo, the late Albert F. Jr. “Skip” (Barbara) DeSalvo, the late Dominic DeSalvo and the late Patricia DeSalvo. Dear Aunt of Regina, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Elizabeth and Gabriella.

Virginia graduated from Elmwood Park High School, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen. With her fun and adventurous spirit, she spent part of her younger years drag racing alongside her father and brother.

Virginia's biggest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to raising her seven children and supporting her husband. She created a home filled with love, faith, laughter, family gatherings, celebrations, and traditions. She was the heart of her family and a mother who loved fiercely, and taught her children that love and generosity for others knows no bounds.

Virginia's beautiful life and legacy will live on through the family she created, her children, grandchildren, and generations to come. Her family who knows how to love because they were first loved by her.

Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Special Words of Remembrance celebrated at 5:00 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim and Wolf Road). Funeral to follow Monday, August 31, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. for a brief Visitation at Russo’s Hillside Chapels until the time of a Chapel Service of Chrisitan Burial celebrated promptly at 10:30 a.m. Interment will remain Private for family only.
