Raymond John Lasek passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 surrounded by his Loving Family at the Golden Age of 95. Beloved Husband of Gloria Lasek nee Biagi for a Loving 62 years. Devoted Father of Michael Raymond (Cynthia) Lasek, Sandee Hood, Victoria (John) Lasek-Newomb, and Elizabeth (Patrick) Byrne. Loving Son of the late John and Anna Lasek. Fond Grandfather of Kaitlin, Lauren, Aaron, Tyler, Abigail, Kristina, Kevin and Francesca. Loving Great Grandfather of Izabella, Emma, and Ava. Dear Brother of the late Martin Lasek.
Raymond Lasek served in the US Army in World War II.
He was a rifleman, using rifles and other small arms and weapons in engagements against the enemy. He was part of the 187th Parachute Glider Infantry Regiment 11th Airborne Division. He parachuted from planes behind enemy lines and fought with a unit of other paratroopers in “behind-the-lines” and infiltration operations.
Raymond was awarded two Bronze Service Stars for his outstanding service in the Southern Philippines and Luzon Campaigns.
