Peter J. Zullo passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 56. Born in Chicago, IL Pete lived a life marked by a deep devotion to family, friends, and pride in his Italian American heritage.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Pete battled with unwavering courage, and selflessness.
Beloved Husband for a loving 22 years to Lisa M. nee Fulco, Zullo. Devoted Father of Dominic J. Longo. Loving Son of Diane L. and the late Donald J. Zullo. Loving Son-in-law of Annette and the late John Howard. Dear Brother-in-law of Michelle Fulco, Billy (Terri) Howard, Ben (Pam) Howard and Kirk DeLise. Fond Cousin of Lena Ann (David) Guerrieri, Mary Ann (the late Joe) Palmer and Anthony Tararo. Dear Uncle of Michael Palmer, Gianna (Michael) Moffatt, Michael DeLise, Alexis Howard, Laura Howard, Kate Taylor, Erin Taylor, Meg Taylor and Anthony Bonamo. Pete touched the lives of everyone who had the honor to know him.
After graduating from Lewis University, he began his career in the hospitality industry. Peter and Lisa earned widespread respect as the longtime owners of Petey Z’s Italian Restaurant in Naperville. Their commitment to excellence and warm hospitality made their establishment a beloved fixture in the community for many years. With over three decades of experience in food hospitality management, Peter became a well-known figure in the local restaurant scene. He served as the restaurant manager at Angeli’s Restaurant in Naperville, where his leadership and engaging personality played a pivotal role in the expansion of Angeli’s bar operations. Peter’s genuine charm and ability to connect with guests were instrumental in attracting loyal customers, and he was dearly loved by all who visited.
An avid Cubs and Bears fan, Pete enjoyed catching the action at home with family, friends, and perhaps a wager or two. He shared his home with all. Many enjoyed summer days in his pool.
His generous spirit, love for life, family, friends, and good wine will be forever missed.
Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation on Friday, December 26, 2025, from
3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Funeral to follow on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from Russo’s Hillside Chapels proceeding to Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1S314 Summit Avenue, Oakbrook Terrace. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated promptly at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. For additional information please call (708) 449-5300.
