Nicholas Speziale Obituary

Nicholas Speziale, passed away on September 21, 2020 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Nicholas (Nick) was born December 20, 1941 to Nicholas and Christine Speziale.

Nick is survived by his wife of 57 years and love of his life, Philomena (Renzi) and their four devoted children, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Speziale, Daniel (Lisa Heckler) Speziale, Gina (Tom) Taylor and Christen (Mike) Klockenkemper-Rice and his adoring grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, Luke, Emma, Mark, Anna, Tommy, Zoe and Claire. He is also survived by his siblings, Therese (late Michael) Messuck, Mary (Rick) Pettineo, John Speziale, Robert (Laura and late Nora) Speziale, Julie (Jim) Elliott and Jeanne (Noel) Beauchamp, sister-in-law Camille Speziale as well as his in-laws, David (Jae) Berni, Neil (late Kris) Renzi and Pam (Gus) Mauro.

Nick was a member of the IBEW Local 134 for 55 years, spending years in the field as an electrician before moving to the corporate side managing many large-retail operations. He was known for his integrity, not only building long-standing relationships with clients, but also life-long friends along the way.

As his children grew, he was able to satisfy his sense of adventure by traveling, skiing, biking and scuba diving. His beloved “ski group” took an annual trip each year for decades, and when some of the younger family members were old enough, a second group was formed providing years of memories for all. His energy level only gained strength as he grew older, and Nick spent almost every morning at the health club, eventually teaching his own bicycle spin class. A lifelong Chicago Sports fan, Nick loved attending games, embracing every minute of the experience.

Nick’s passion for life and his sense of humor made him the life of the party. He could strike up a conversation with a stranger and within minutes create a new friendship. Known for his incredible generosity, he never took for granted the true value of family and friends.  Nick courageously battled his illness with his best friend and wife by his side, in the steadfast hope of spending more time with his cherished loved ones. Nick’s devotion and unshakable Faith was apparent in the way he lived, until his final days.

In addition to the family mentioned, Nick is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Speziale, mother, Christine Speziale and brother, Michael Speziale.
