Mordine LaRuth Caston, “Mama Sugar” passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the golden age of 96. Devoted Mother of Dr. W. Delores (the late Richard L.) Robinson, Atty. Charles D. (Vanessa) Allen, Jeanette (the late Willie Jr.) Arrington. Loving daughter of the late Burlee and the late Annie Lee Harvey. Fond Grandmother of Kevin (Monifa) Robinson, Keon (Carol Elaine) Robinson, Dr. Kiesha (Terrance) Campbell, Dr. Keila (Freddy) Barnes, the late Tricia (Anthony) Scruggs, Chanda (Kwamena) Allen-Baffoe, Sarita (Shun) Battles, DeVonte Allen, Christiana (Gideon) Allen-Coblé, Jordyn Livsey, Zaneta Arrington, and Canice Arrington. Dear Great-Grandmother of Madison, Kevon, Kedon, Kaitlyn, Kinsley, Owen, Kayle, Andrew, Luke, Chandler, Eeyan, Ethan, Brooklyn, Jailynn, Jace, Autumn, and Carsen. Loving sister to the late Waldo E. (the late Thelma) Harvey, the late Peggy J. (the late Spencer Sr.) Brown, B.H. Harvey, the late Vera Dell (Philbert Sr.) Wilcox, Alvin J. (Debra) Harvey, the late Mary L. (Carl Jr.) Holloway, Toncie L. (Lonnie Sr.) Booker, the late Joe L. (Faye) Harvey, and Mollie L. Harvey. Loving godmother of Nattie Scott. Mama Sugar has a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Family and Friends are to gather for the visitation on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Second Baptist Church, 436 S. 13th Avenue, Maywood. Funeral service to be celebrated promptly at 2:30 p.m. Interment at Floyd Valley Cemetery, Marrietta, Texas.
