Mary Sue Gholston, nee Whooper, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the golden age of 80. Beloved Wife for a loving 55 years to Aaron D. Gholston. Devoted Mother of Aaron D. Gholston, Jr., Michelle Gholston, Kendrick (Nicole) Gholston and Nicolra Nnamdi. Loving Daughter of the late Shad & the late Matilda Whooper. Fond Grandmother of Aaron J. McGee Sr, Adiah Gholston, and Josh Gholston. Dear Great-Grandmother of Aaron J. McGee Jr., and Khalina McGee. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Shad Whooper Jr., Samuel Lee Whooper, Paul Whooper. Sisters Bonnie Kate Singleton and Jeannette Whooper Diggs. She is survived by her brothers Leonard Whooper, Willie (Anita) Whooper, Obediah (Anita) Whooper, Bobby (Pearl) Whooper. Sisters Ruth Hill, Annette Prince, Minister Belinda Morris and Theretha Whooper. Dear Aunt of many Nieces & Nephews.
Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Funeral to follow on Saturday, August 16, 2025. All Family and Friends are to Meet Directly at Friendship Baptist Church, 5200 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, Illinois. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated promptly at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
