Marlene E. Pontarelli

Marlene E. Pontarelli, nee Moug, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family at the Golden Age of 92. Beloved Wife of the late Vito for a loving 41 years. Devoted Mother of Ann Nebel, Carol (Thomas) Hanika, JoAnn (Dominic) Sergi and the late Henry (Kathy McShane) Pontarelli. Loving Daughter of the late Russell and the late Minnie, nee Sinn, Moug. Fond Grandmother of Brian, Bradley, Christina, Melissa, Dominic, Joe, the late Nicholas, Will, Jason, and Rebecca. Fond Great Grandmother of Cordelia, Clementine, Poppy, Brody, Connor, Declan, Aiden, Amelia, Avery, Juliette, Joey, Chloe, Addison and Henry. Very Special Miss GG of Alina and Abby. Dear Sister of the late Harold Moug, the late Clara Hopkinson and the late Jack Moug. Dear Aunt and Great Aunt of many.

Marlene was a very strong independent woman, a  loving mother,  grandmother and great-grandma (Gigi).   She touched the hearts of so many. She would always be there for anyone and everyone!!! Especially when it came to her fabulous and amazing cooking.  She was always cooking for someone. One of her highlights was to cook on the holiday weekends at the lake for all of the grandkids favorite foods like “Gigi’s Jello”.  And her famous “Spumoni ice cream” on Christmas.

Marlene was a avid reader.   She would read 4-5 novels a week.   Loved to play solitaire online , puzzles and going to Marco Island in the winter was here happy place. She will truly be missed.   We are grateful to know she is living a beautiful eternal life that Jesus promises.  God bless you mom. We love you! 

Family and friends are to gather for the Visitation on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. At Visitation Parish, 779 S York St, Elmhurst, IL 60126. Immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated promptly at 10:00 A.M. Entombment to immediately follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in the Main Mausoleum.
