Margaret “Maggie” Ann Baker-Hansa nee Park passed away peacefully in the company of her loving children on Monday March 6th, 2023. Maggie is survived by her daughter Katharine Baker (Julie) and her son David Hansa; her step-sister Barb Czuprynski; her step-brother Chas Lasch; and her grandchildren Mystic Blair (Mitch Maluchnik), Toriano Blair (Sam Sarli) and Erin Gonzalez.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Elsie Park nee Grabau and her step-mother Nancy Park.
Maggie will always be remembered as a woman who was fiercely independent yet compassionate to all who crossed her path. Her empathy was apparent to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Maggie was known for hosting a variety of wildlife in her backyard and maintaining a beautiful landscape. She started touching lives through her soap brand Yodely Goats Soaps which quickly turned into her favorite hobby and garnered quite a following of Yodely Goat enthusiasts. In addition to her soap passion, her career path ultimately led her to working with Lutheran Church Charities who organize and dispatch comfort dogs and their teams around the country in response to tragedies and natural disasters.
Maggie’s love for her family was apparent to everyone. A native of Westchester, Maggie’s family life never took her far from the family home which was first purchased by her parents in the 1950’s. Her first marriage to William Baker saw their daughter, Katharine, come into the world. Later, her second marriage to Terrence Hansa saw the birth of David and the introduction of Lori and Jason Hansa to the family. As soon as she became a grandmother she fell in love with her new role. Maggie was a loving grandmother who supported her grandkids in every way possible. Maggie’s family extended to her love of her “doggos” over the years who always seemed to find their way into the family at exactly the right times. She also had a way with injured birds, nursing them back to health several times over the years earning the nickname of the “Bird Whisperer”. Maggie’s love and compassion will be her legacy.
At Maggie’s request, no services will be held. Correspondences and well wishes can be sent to Russo’s Hillside Chapels.
