John J. Sheehan, 91, August 3, 2023, Lieutenant C.F.D.-retired, dearly beloved husband of the late Rose Rita Lambert Sheehan, R.N.; devoted father of John J. Sheehan, Jr., Margaret Mary Sheehan, Daniel T. Sheehan, Robert A. Sheehan, James D. (Joan) Sheehan, Maria Sheehan Cox (Michael) and the late Kenneth J. Sheehan; loving grandfather of David and Katie Sheehan, Ethan, Patrick, and Sean Cox; dear son of the late Cornelius J. and Margaret Mary Leech Sheehan; grandson of brave Irish immigrants, John J. and Mary O’Brien Sheehan, hailing from County Limerick, Ireland; dear brother of the late LaVergne Welsh, Constance Hines, and Jean Lewis; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to countless.

John had a never ending love for his family, and a proud career as a Chicago Firefighter. He was a strong union man and loyal member of Chicago Fire Fighters Union-Local 2, who stood tall with his fellow fire fighters during contract negotiations with the city. Proud  member of “The Brotherhood Of The Barrel,” Return To Quarters! John proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

Visitation Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service Thursday, August 10, 2023, 10 a.m., at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, IL 60162 (Between Mannheim and Wolf Roads). Burial with military honors, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St., Alsip, IL.
