John A. Scatchell passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Tampa, Florida at the Golden Age of 98. Beloved Husband of the late Chyrse nee Apostolos, for a loving 62 years. Devoted Father of Merri Downs, Cynthia Scatchell, John (Wendy) Scatchell, and Robert (Deby) Scatchell. Loving Son of the late Edward and the late Frances nee Romano Scatchell. Fond Grandfather of Matthew Downs, Frank (Danielle) Falbo, Alex (Paulina) Scatchell, and Nicholas Scatchell. Fond Great Grandfather of Harper Downs, Dennis Downs, Kiley Falbo, and Johnny Falbo. Dear Brother of the late Lena (the late Joseph) Berardi, the late Joseph (the late Helen) Scatchell, the late Anthony Scatchell, the late Mary Louise (the late Frank) Guidice, and the late Sara (the late Larry) Dolendi. Dear Uncle, Great Uncle, and Great-Great Uncle to many. John served his country proudly in the US Army during WW II and received a Bronze Star for Valor and a Purple Heart in Combat. He also was a successful Restauranteur in Chicago, Illinois and Palm Springs, California for over 50 years.
Family and friends are to gather for the visitation and funeral Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, IL 60162 (located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Funeral immediately to follow at Russo’s Hillside Chapels with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Russo’s Hillside Chapels promptly at 11:30 a.m. Entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Crucifixion Garden Mausoleum.
