JoAnn “Jinx” Accardi age 92, went home to the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2020 in DeKalb, Illinois Beloved Wife of Frank married over 72 years. JoAnn was born on January 7, 1928 in Pentwater, Michigan to the late Anton and the late Petronella (Tervainis) Lucas. Devoted Mother of Charles (Susan) Accardi, Dr. Rodger (Chestine) Accardi and Victoria (Scott) Erwin. the. Fond Grandmother of Todd (Nichole), Adrienne (Cory), Jason (Marissa), Steve (Megan), Dean (Sheetal), Abigail and Nathan. Caring Great-grandmother (“Noni”) of Alexander, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Madelynn, Gabriella, Dominick, Genevieve, Penelope, Milo and Saya. Dear Sister of the late Anna, the late Emma, the Late Edward and the late Tony Lucas. JoAnn is proceeded in death my many cherished Brothers in law and Sisters in law. Dear Aunt of MaryAnn Accardi and many Nephews and Nieces.
JoAnn had been involved in many activities at Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community in La Grange Park, Illinois and was a devoted member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Parish in Western Springs, Illinois. JoAnn was the beloved school secretary of Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Elementary School in Chicago and Morton West High School in Berwyn. She was a proud graduate of Kelly High School in Chicago. JoAnn will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, spirit of love and compassion, attention to detail as well as her love of children, storytelling and great laughter. JoAnn always kept her Family and Friends well fed with Italian Cuisine and she paid keen attention to the political issues of the day. She will be missed by family, Scouting friends and neighbors.
Due to Covid-19 considerations, a private, immediate family visitation, Funeral Mass and burial will be held Saturday, November 14. Internment at Resurrection Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. In leu of flowers, memorials to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls or the Italian-American Executives of Transportation Scholarship Fund are appreciated.
