Gayle Cooks

Gayle Gray-Cooks passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents, (Mother) Clara Gray-Seuell and (Father) Lonnie Gray; her grandparents, (Grandfather) Ed Owens and (Grandmother) Everdean Owens; (2 Special Friends) Rayford Davis & Samuel Burnett (Son) Ronnie Cooks, (Son-In-Law) Tim Griffin; four Brothers: Ray Gray, Delmar Gray, Rodney Gray, & Sirmont Seuell; five Sisters: Carolyn Gray, Linda Gray, Deloris Crudup, Geraldine Vawters, & Wanda Howard; two Uncles: Clarence Owens & Alan Owens She leaves to cherish her loving memory eight children: (Daughter) Chevelle Cooks, (Son) Deon (Danita) Davis, (Daughter) Tonika (Tony) Davis-Peeples, (Son) Sirmont Davis, (Son) Caravelle Burnett (Chanell), Sr ., (Special Daughter) Shakira Gray, (Daughter) Carrie Cooks, and (Son) Charles Harris (Tykeya) Sr., (1 Brother) Lamont Seuell, (3 Sisters) Gloria (Raymond) Johnson, Carolyn Gray Redmond, & Lillian (Norman) Bryant; (1 Aunt) Betty Joyce Owens & (1 Special Aunt) Margie Owens. Barbara Jean Donnell & Billy Owens. A proud and devoted grandmother of 39 grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly and will forever hold her in their hearts. 

Family and Friends are to gather for visitation on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). A Celebration of Life Service is to be celebrated promptly at 11:00 a.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels. Interment at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside.
