Florene Smith, nee Johnson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 24th, 2025. Beloved Wife of the Late Samuel Smith, for a loving 50 years. Devoted Mother of Earlene Hughes (Charles), Samuel E. Smith (Dawn), Ernest J. Smith, McKinley Smith, the Late Zellorine McMurtry, and the Late Lois Jean Smith. Loving Daughter of the Late Walter and the Late Katie Johnson. Fond Grandmother of Shannon, Terrence, Trinette, Nicole, Sam Lee, Leona, and Sharice. Cherished Great-Grandmother of Selena, Joe, Jordan, Nevaeh, and Sariyah. Dear Sister of Earlene, Celia, Bennie, and Melvin. Preceded in death by Walter Jr, Robert Lee, Eddie, and Jimmie. Dear Aunt and Great-Aunt to a host of many Nieces and Nephews.

Family and friends are to gather for the Visitation, Sunday, June 8th, 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, IL 60162 (located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Funeral to follow on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, a Chapel Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated promptly at 10:00 A.M. Interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
