Ernie D. Greco

Ernie D. Greco, U.S. Army Veteran, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family in the tranquility of his own home at the age of 82. Beloved Husband of Valerie, nee Rizzi for a loving 44 years. Devoted Father of Angela (Rocco) DeCarlo and Rachelle Greco. Loving Son of the late Ernest O. & the late Edith, nee Nappi, Greco. Fond Grandfather of Marissa, Gianna, Adriana, Nicholas and Alexis. Dear Step-Grandfather to Lucca. Dear Brother of Dennis, Renee (Ronald) Zymali, Kathleen (the late Allen) Foreman, Ronald (Patricia) and the late Baby Ronald. Dear Uncle and Great-Uncle to many.

Ernie dedicated nearly forty years to working for the Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department. During this time, he formed many lifelong friendships. Making friends came naturally to Ernie, as he loved to talk and connect with those he met along the way. He could spend hours at the local Panera or Gottlieb Health Club chatting with people he knew and others he had just met.

As his family, we were fortunate to share these conversations with him every day. He truly cared about how we were doing and took a genuine interest in everything happening in our lives. Ernie was a friend to all and will be missed by many.

Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation and Funeral Service on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Funeral to immediately follow at Russo’s Hillside Chapels with a Chapel Service of Christian Burial celebrated promptly at 12:00 p.m. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
