Edward F. Heil, Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, in the tranquility of his home on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the age of 78. Beloved Husband for a loving 21 years to Susan. Devoted Father of Karen (Kevin), Carl, Sandra (Anthony), Edward (Jaclyn) and William. Loving Son of the late Edward and the late Eleanor. Fond Grandfather of Shannon, the late Connor, Bridget, Anya, Ewen and Jeremiah.
Edward “Eddie” F. Heil, industrialist, philanthropist, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Melrose Park, Illinois, Mr. Heil’s first “job” was selling cold drinks out of his wagon after school to contractors working in his neighborhood.
Coming of age, he worked at his father’s company driving trucks and operating heavy equipment. A lifelong Operating Engineer International Local 150 member, Ed was involved in the demolition & wrecking industry, disposal industry and road construction industry.
Getting involved was only the beginning. Ed was able to excel in those industries and being opportunistic was able to achieve additional success in real estate development, the building materials industry, steel industry, aluminum industry, and the oil and gas industry, just to mention a few.
Mr. Heil significantly supported many causes that were close to his heart as well as those of his close friends and family.
Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162 (Located between Mannheim & Wolf Road). Funeral to follow on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. ALL Family and Friends are to meet directly at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1S314 Summit Avenue, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
