Cary S. Gabel, age 74, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Cary was born on July 18, 1950, in Chicago, IL and graduated from De La Salle High School in 1968. Cary was an outstanding and successful sales representative in the HVAC industry for almost 60 years, including a very satisfying last few years with Hatchell & Associates. Cary was a charming salesman and adored working with his clients right up until his death. His enthusiasm, joy and laughter were infectious, and he brought a good time wherever he went. Among his many joys in life were swinging a golf club, throwing a bowling ball, playing the ponies and finishing out his day at the 19th hole.
In 2010, Cary married Michelle (Thomas) and they shared a beautiful love story for over 30 years. Cary was a beloved father to two sons with his former wife, Sharon Gabel (Smith): Brian (Kristy) and Bill Gabel. Cary is also survived by sisters Adrienne (the late Rick) Kwiecinski, Darlene Tian, and Mary Gabel (Marty Dwyer); grandchildren Alexis, Paige and Kiera, mother-in-law Patricia Thomas (Dovichi), brothers-in law Scott (Debbi) Thomas and Bryan (Coleen) Thomas, many endeared nieces and nephews and countless dear friends. Cary is preceded in death by his parents William and Irene (Trzos) Gabel, Sr. and his brother William Gabel, Jr.
