Carol Ann Wirack nee Janus passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5th, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family at the golden age of 81. Wife of Walter J. Devoted Mother of Lawrence Wirack, Suzanne (the late Frank) Mazgay, and David (Brenda) Wirack. Loving and special friend of Bill Raffetto. Loving Daughter of the late Joseph and the late Virgina nee Zuba, Janus. Fond Grandmother of Samantha (Claudio) Gutierrez, Celine Wirack, Frank (Abby) Mazgay, Cera Wirack, Kaitlyn and Madisyn Mazgay. Dear Great- Grandmother of Mia and Luna Gutirrez. Dear Sister of Sandy Federici, the late Jerry (Judy) Janus, and the late Judy (the late Steve) Karko. Dear Sister-in-law to Debbie (Rick) Bowald. Dear Aunt and Great-Aunt to many.
Carol was a proud member of the Polish-American Club in La Grange, loyal order of The Moose Lodge #2578 of River Grove, proud member of the town of Cicero senior center and an avid sports fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Sox teams. Especially her passion for dancing the polka and dancing in the heavens, stars and skies. Carol was most proud of being a loyal and faithful parishioner to St. Frances of Rome in Cicero, for over 50 years.
Family and friends are to gather for the visitation Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, IL 60162 (located between Mannheim and Wolf Road). Funeral to follow: Monday, December 15, 2025. Family and Friends are to gather directly at St Frances of Rome Church, 1500 South 59th Court, Cicero, IL 60804 for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated promptly at 10:00 a.m. Interment will remain private for family only.
