Audelia Santiago (née Alonso) passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the age of 77. Beloved wife for a loving 58 years to Epimenio Santiago. Devoted mother of Angelica (Arturo) Salgado, Enrique (Veronica) Santiago, Pablo Santiago, Maria Dolores (Juan) Davila, Gerardo Santiago, and Graciela (Jose) Cornejo.
Loving daughter of the late Pablo and Bernardina Alonso. Cherished grandmother of Arturo (Elisa) Salgado, Jr., Aaron Salgado, Hernan (Sheila) Salgado, Cristobal Santiago, Valeria Santiago, Melissa (Emmanuel) Orozco, Alejandro Davila, Victor Manuel Davila, Diego Davila, Sophia Marie Santiago, and Carla Cornejo. Fond great-grandmother of Paola Salgado, Ximena Salgado, and Matthew Salgado. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Audelia was a woman of profound faith, deeply rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church. She had a special devotion to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of lost causes, La Virgen de San Juan de Los Lagos, a cherished icon in Mexican Catholicism, and La Virgen de Guadalupe, whom she honored with immense faith and love. Her devotions were a source of strength, guidance, and love throughout her life and for our family
Audelia’s passion for cooking was well known among her family and friends. She took great pride in preparing delicious meals, with her enchiladas rojas being a particular favorite. Sundays were especially cherished, as she would gather her loved ones for family meals, filling her home with laughter, warmth, and the aroma of her wonderful cooking—creating memories that will be treasured forever.
She also had a deep love for gardening, finding peace and joy in caring for her flower garden. She especially cherished her white and green hydrangeas, which she nurtured with love and patience, bringing beauty and serenity to her home.
Born in Salitrillos, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Audelia remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life, often visiting yearly. While there, she coordinated and served as the main contributor to La Acostada del Niño Dios, ensuring that this cherished religious celebration continued for future generations. She was also deeply committed to giving back to her community in Salitrillos.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the beautiful legacy of love, faith, and kindness that she leaves behind. Audelia will be forever remembered for her unwavering love, devotion to family, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her.
