Arcangela Di Brizzi passed away on May 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved Wife of the late Francesco Paolo Di Brizzi for a loving 65 years. Devoted Mother of Nicholas (Arcangela) Di Brizzi. Loving Daughter of the late Carmine Abbatemarco and the late Angela Di Bella. Fond Nonna of Franco (Carmela) Di Brizzi, Dominic (Renda) Di Brizzi, Nick (Mary Dicianni) Di Brizzi Jr. Loving Great Nonna of Alexandria, Gabriella, Dominic Jr, Angelina, and Ava Marie. Dear Sister of many brothers and sisters. Dear Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Nonna, Arcangela Abbatemarco Di Brizzi, at the age of 92 on May 15th at 10:51pm. Born in 1934 in Sassano, Italy, she embarked on a remarkable journey that led her from her cherished homeland of Italy to Argentina, and eventually to Chicago, Illinois, in the early 70’s. 

Arcangela was the embodiment of love, kindness, and selflessness. She dedicated her life to her family, and her generosity knew no bounds. She was a devoted wife to her husband Francesco Paolo Di Brizzi for over 65 years. A loving mother to her son, Nicola Di Brizzi, and daughter-in-law, Arcangela Di Brizzi, she was the proud grandmother of three grandsons: Frank (Carmela), Dominic (Renda), and Nick Di Brizzi Jr. (Mary). Her legacy of love continues through her five adored great-grandchildren: Alexandria, Gabriella, Domenico Jr, Angelina, and Ava Marie.

Nonna was the backbone of our family. A woman who radiated warmth, empathy, and compassion for others all the time. Selfless in every way. Always putting everyone else first. Last to sit at the table, first to get up and help. She was hard working in every way. Nonna Arcangela, had a unique ability to uplift everyone around her. She fought and defended the underdog and always wanted to offer a helping hand to those in need. Her heart was as vast as her culinary talents. Every meal she prepared was a labor of love, filled with the rich flavors and traditions of her Italian heritage. Recipes she learned from generations before her. It was truly her love language, and she loved a lot. 

She also took deep pride in her garden and every vegetable or fruit she planted. Every year her garden flourished under her care, much like her family under the embrace of her love. Nonna’s garden was her sanctuary, full of colorful vibrant blooms that mirrored her joyful essence. 

To know our Nonna was to experience a love so profound and genuine that it left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She was more than just a grandmother; she was a Nonna to all. And we were all blessed to have her in our lives. 

As we mourn her loss, we celebrate a life filled with compassion, grace, and love. Arcangela’s spirit and the great memories we have of her will forever be etched in our hearts. 

May her soul rest in peace, knowing she is no longer in pain and was deeply loved. She will be profoundly missed, but her life lessons and the legacy of love she left will be with us forever.

Family and Friends are to gather for the visitation on Wednesday May 20, 2026, from 3-8 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosvelt Road, Hillside, IL 60162 (Located between Mannheim and Wolf Road). Funeral to Follow Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. Chapel service of Christian Burial will be celebrated promptly at 11 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
