Alba Morrone Obituary

Alba DeSimone Morrone of Des Plaines, IL passed away peacefully  on July 21, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Alba was born in Marano Marchesato, Italy. Daughter of Rosaria Pecora and Filiberto DeSimone. Sister of the Late Dante and the late Melina DeSimone, the late Gilda and the late Giuseppe Sergi, the late Ida and the late Orlando Belmonte, the late Alfredo and the late Esterina Morrone, the late Gilda and  the late Nicodemo  Belmonte, the late Guilietta and the late Pietro Ruffalo, Sister in law Pierina and the late Benito Morrone and many nieces and nephews.  Alba married her cherished and loving husband, the late Vittorio Morrone in July 1955, where they embarked on a brave and beautiful journey crossing the ocean to make a new home in Chicago and later Norridge and Des Plaines, IL. Together, they laid a strong foundation rooted in family, hard work, and deep-seated tradition, a legacy carried on with love by her two devoted daughters, Mirella and Victoria. Alba is survived by her daughter Mirella and son-in-law Nick Laera, her daughter Victoria, her grandchildren Anthony (Maggie) Laera, Lauren (Elvis) Hoxha, and Daniel Szymell and her great-grandchildren Nicholas, Anthony, and Margaret Laera

She was also faithfully protected at home by Loui, the "ferocious" Yorkie who took his duty as her tiny, fearless guardian very seriously.

Above all else, Alba was devoted to her family as the beating heart of her home. Alba was a beloved matriarch whose warmth, humor, and boundless love touched everyone who knew her. As a homemaker, she turned her house into a sanctuary where everyone was welcomed, fed, and cherished. To know Alba was to know comfort, joy, and laughter. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a quick smile, and a deeply compassionate spirit. Some of her sweetest moments were filled with music, especially when she was singing traditional Italian songs alongside her daughter Victoria. Her kitchen was her domain of love, no one ever left her home hungry, and her homemade baking was legendary. Nothing filled Alba with more pride than her family. She beamed with joy over the accomplishments of her grandchildren, Anthony, Lauren, and Daniel, and warmly embraced the growth of her family, holding a special place in her heart for Anthony’s wife, Maggie, and Lauren’s husband, Elvis. In her later years, her ultimate delight was playing with her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, and Margaret, whose laughter brought endless light to her days.

For many years, Alba tirelessly dedicated herself to her career as an alterations manager at Carson Pirie Scott. Her incredible creativity, sharp eye for detail, and tireless work ethic were admired by all. Her passion for her craft and dedication shone brightly in everything she created, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.

Alba embraced life’s adventures, especially when traveling the world alongside her daughter Mirella, her son-in-law Nick, and her grandson Anthony, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Always hard at work, always caring, and endlessly devoted, Alba leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of resilience, warmth, and unconditional love. She will be dearly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
